Ben’s story
"My name is Ben and this is my story.

I was 14 years old when I first took speed, LSD, magic mushrooms and smoked cannabis. As I got older I went to prison when I was about 17 or 18. It was whilst I was in prison that I first tried heroin, when I got out I started taking heroin more and more. I couldn’t go with out it. So I became a user and I started to inject myself, as all my mates were doing it.

Now I’m getting older I’m getting help, and I am thinking about when I was a child. When I was young I had always been in kids’ homes. I still don’t know my Mum and Dad 38 years on.

But now I’m getting help, and going to a group called SUS (Service Users Say) from Swanswell which can help people who are ex-users to stay drug free, I have been going to the group for 18 months now and I don’t want to stop as its helping me a lot."
