What Swanswell does
Using drugs can be harmful to your health and we know these problems can also affect other things such as housing, employment and money. We also know that it can be difficult to get help with problems related to your drug use and this is why we offer a free, confidential service.
We believe that you deserve the chance to change and to be happy. We can help you to remove the things that stand in your way, whether physical, emotional or practical, so that you can feel well, do well, and stay well.
We work in convenient locations, including our own offices and in GP practices, so that it is as easy as possible to access our services.
In the GP practice, we work alongside your GP so that you can reduce the harm caused by your drug use. Your Swanswell worker will help you to identify what you need to do to change your drug use and what support you may need to do this.
This could involve:
- access to substitute prescribing / medication
- general healthcare advice and information
- complementary therapies to help you to feel better
- access to advice and information on benefits, education, training, employment and housing
- contact with other agencies who may be able to offer services you need
- information about service user groups you may find it helpful to attend
Who we work with
We can work with you if you are over the age of 18 years, and live or are homeless in Birmingham, Leicestershire and Rutland or Sandwell. The services are available for you if you use opiates (such as heroin) or stimulants. You do not have to stop your drug use completely before we will work with you.
Where to find us
We have offices in Birmingham, Sandwell, Leicestershire and Rutland, but our staff work mainly with people at GP surgeries and other community venues.
